Soloria

Concept art from a scrapped MOBA game. Soloria, our Outlaw Gunfighter hero unit, was shaping up pretty well, and we were all starting to think of her as a possible face for the game, probably because of her eye-catching red palette and unique theme and origin. You don't see a lot of Mexican-themed heroes in MOBAs, and we were hoping to be the first. (Just think of all the cool possibilities for skins, starting with a Dia De Los Muertos!!) Man, I'm sorry this game didn't make it.

Artistically, I was trying something really different on this title. Sort of a photo montage/ photo texture thing to give the characters a more realistic vibe. Definitely learned a lot, and I'm sure I'll continue using these techniques in the future.

Fun fact: my favorite touch on this design was a suggestion from our producer. It's the period-accurate silver dollar trim on her sombrero.
